Located in Medellín, Colombia, Daylight offered an innovative healthy dining concept, with nutritious and delicious recipes designed by expert nutritionists. Founded by digital natives, the company relied heavily on technology, managing orders through WhatsApp and social media. After acquiring the business from its founders, the Board of Directors—made up of new equity partners—needed a clearer understanding of the company’s financial situation.
The challenge
Just a few months after its acquisition, the restaurant’s sustainability was at risk. The partners lacked a structured information system to support timely decision-making and did not have a complete picture of the company’s situation. This made it difficult to take the right actions to address the business challenges.
Our solution
We conducted an in-depth review of the business to fully understand its operations and developed a customized financial information system that generated detailed weekly reports tailored to the client’s needs. As part of our intervention:

Introduced city sectorization strategies to optimize delivery routes and reduce the operational burden on couriers.
Established clear procedures for excise tax returns and self-withholdings to mitigate tax risks.
Simplified data collection by consolidating all necessary tables into a single file.
Defined cash-counting procedures to ensure full traceability of each transaction.
Designed and implemented a cash flow statement with clear separation of business activities to track both operating and investment plans.
Reduced waiting times and improved customer satisfaction: achieved through route sectorization and greater efficiency in delivery expenses.
Real-time business insight: timely access to key performance metrics with weekly management reports summarizing different areas of the business.
Cost optimization and improved employee satisfaction: reduced overtime payments and minimized ingredient waste by optimizing raw material usage and ensuring effective communication across all departments.
