Located in Medellín, Colombia, Daylight offered an innovative and healthy gastronomic proposal through nutritious and delicious recipes prepared by expert nutritionists. Created by digital natives, the company was heavily leveraged on technology and managed its orders through Whatsapp and social networks. The Board of Directors, made up of new equity partners who bought the company from its founders, needed to better understand the company's financial situation after its recent acquisition.
The challenge
The sustainability of the restaurant was threatened a few months after its acquisition. The partners did not have a structured information system that would allow them to make timely decisions, nor did they have the full picture of the situation, which made it difficult for them to make the right decisions to address business problems.
Our solution
We went deep into the business to fully understand its operation. We developed a customized financial information system that enabled the generation of detailed weekly reports, addressing the client's specific needs. As part of our intervention:
We implemented a modern RMS (Restaurant Management System) called Tasty Igniter that allowed us to automate the ordering process and the day-to-day administration of the restaurant.
We standardized different procedures within the company in order to optimize the use of key resources such as time, raw materials and labor.
We redesigned the supply process to reduce costs and improve efficiency; we formalized and socialized the new practices with the employees involved.
We worked on the sectorization of the city to improve the distribution of orders and reduce the operational burden of the domiciliary ones.
We implemented procedures to mitigate tax risk by establishing clear procedures for excise tax returns and self-withholdings.
We simplified data collection files by adding the necessary tables to have everything in the same place.
We defined the procedures for the cash count in order to have full traceability of each transaction.
We designed and implemented the company's cash flow statement with a clear separation of business activities to track operating and investment plans.
Reduced waiting times and increased customer satisfaction: route sectorization and greater efficiency in distribution expenses.
Real-time business insight: timely access to key business metrics with weekly management reports summarizing different areas of the business.
Cost optimization and increased labor satisfaction: reduced overtime pay and less ingredient waste through better use of raw materials by effectively communicating to all areas involved.
Reduced operational risk: up to date documentation and accounting paperwork for both sales and purchase invoices, providing greater control over the business. Optimization of payroll processes and identification of the break-even point.
Effective customer relationship management: implementation of specialized libraries in the RMS to interact directly with the customer. Parameterization of a user with the necessary characteristics to audit the company-customer relationship.
